Little Moments

Little Moments-Brad Paisley

Well I'll never forget the first time that I heard
That pretty mouth say that dirty word
And I can't even remember now what she backed my truck into
But she covered her mouth and her face got red
And she just looked so darn cute
That I couldn't even act like I was mad
Yeah I live for little moments like that

Well that's just like last year on my birthday
She lost all track of time and burnt the cake
And every smoke detector in the house was going off
And she was just about to cry until I took her in my arms
And I tried not to let her see me laugh
Yeah I live for little moments like that

I know she's not perfect but she tries so hard for me
( From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/b/brad-paisley-lyrics/little-moments-lyrics.html )
And I thank god that she isn't 'cause how boring would that be
It's the little imperfections it's the sudden change in plans
When she misreads the directions and we're lost but holding hands
Yeah I live for little moments like that

When she's laying on my shoulder on the sofa in the dark
And about the time she falls asleep so does my right arm
And I want so bad to move it 'cause it's tingling and it's numb
But she looks so much like an angel that I don't wanna wake her up
Yeah I live for little moments
When she steals my heart again and doesn't even know it
Yeah I live for little moments like that

Taylor loves this song, and I have to say, it's quite descriptive of us...especially the burning the cake part ;) But I'm getting better! I was just thinking today of all the little moments that I'm thankful for, especially the ones with Taylor. Even though he was only gone for 11 weeks this summer, it gave me a new appreciation for him that I didn't have before. It's the little things that I missed so much, and it's the little things that I love now and always have to remember to be thankful for. Things like: waking up next to him and just watching him sleep (or being woken up by him as he shoves me over because I'm hogging too much of the bed). Picking up his socks and shoes and shirts and jeans and dishes and......get the idea? ;) Getting texts from him just saying hi and telling me how AMAZING lunch in the cafeteria was. Hearing his voice over the phone while he's walking home after practice. Seeing him for a few minutes in the middle of the day when we're both home in between classes. Snuggling on the couch in the evening while we watch 24 (we're hooked on that show!) Coming home to see that he vacuumed the apartment while I was at work or that he made the bed on a day when I had to leave early. And the list goes on and on. I'm so thankful for him and for all of the little blessings that God has given to us.

Think about it though; think about all of the little things in YOUR life. What little things make a really big difference? What little blessings has God given us that we're overlooking and taking for granted? I'm learning to see that the big, obvious blessings and fun things are wonderful, but it's the little everyday blessings-in-disguise that are really the best, and they are the things that we have to remember to thank and praise God for. So, what little moments can we thank God for today?
